The community identified the top organizations that support the Pikes Peak small businesses in the 2016 State of Small Business Survey. The Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center, Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance, and Colorado Springs SCORE were the top three organizations.
The Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center(PPSBDC) offers a myriad of services for small businesses in El Paso, Teller and Park counties. The PPSBDC is the community’s primary source for small business education and guidance. Small businesses can receive free consulting from small business specialists to help with everything from starting to closing a business. The PPSBDC also offers classes and online resources.
The Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance(RBA) serves the entire business community. It is committed to being the primary advocate for the Colorado Springs business community, dedicated to serving businesses of all sizes to build the Pikes Peak region’s economy. The RBA strives to be the connection between business and government, business and business, and business and the workforce. They offer a wide variety of networking events where small businesses can connect with each other and the larger business community.
Colorado Springs SCORE is a hidden gem in our community. Supported by volunteers and donations from the community, SCORE offers mentoring, classes, and online resources. While originally known for its group of retired executives, SCORE has evolved to include consultants from millennials to baby boomers in over 25 areas of industry experience and almost 20 areas of expertise. Offering a truly regional approach, they have satellite locations in Monument, Woodland Park, and Leadville.
Additional organizations that obtained significant votes were the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado, Colorado Springs Business Journal, Colorado Springs Downtown Partnership, Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce, and Peak Startup.
The 2016 State of Small Business Survey is a non-scientific survey of small business owners and supporters in the Pikes Peak region. The survey provides a starting point for querying the local small business community and provides some insight into possible trends within the region.
